Kryll cocked an eye at her bounty. It had been a fruitful morning so far.  Fog retreated across the water in deference to the advancing sun, and what remained fled to the hollows and shadows. The heron--Groark--wandered across the shallows below her perch, minding its own business. The creature was no threat to her, and didn't even impugn upon her private rituals.  Herons had no use for the clothing of songbirdfolk. She rather wished she didn't have to go through the hassle of dressing herself, either, when she took her catch to market--but the Oldbirds made such a fuss about "uncivilized behavior" and "naked as a mammal" and other silly songbird sentiments that a self-respecting alcedinid shouldn't have to consider. At least she could always fish naked. Ah! There!
