Okay, so I was originally kind of unenthusiastic about Eridan with anybody, until I sort of fell into a pit of Rose <3< Eridan and struggled vainly and then accepted my fate. I only really like Eridan with Rose? I suppose I have UrbanAnchorite to blame because she writes him incredibly well and doesn't let up about the fact that he's sort of a needy clusterfuck of entitlement and other issues. I can't really stick him with other characters unless it's a specific timeframe - Feferi and Vriska in his black and pale quadrants, but they both imploded under the weight of his need to be always in the right and the fact he won't accept responsibility for his own terribleness in general.  Rose has a deep-seated need to interfere in the problems of people, but she'd not be able to detach, and I don't know if she's want to, exactly, but Eridan/Rose resonates in a way other Rose/Dude things don't. Like, Eridan is really femme, in a lot of ways, and though I don't count it so much among his bad attributes, the fact that he's a bit vain and blunt kind of resonates through the same bones that make me ship Rose/Kanaya until the day I die. I really enjoy them in a threesome! If you take all the facts I just gave you, you can probably go find the threesome crossdressing fic that started this whole problem.  (Crossdressing isn't even a kink for me, he's just really invested in people paying attention to him and having people put him in clothes and fuss over him is stuff that appeals to his vanity and I like how IC it is, i guess.)

When it comes to pairings I wish I could like and just can't, I'm afraid you're mostly out of luck. I can't raise the effort to care about most M/M pairings with the fervor that I ship ladies with, and I've pretty much never met an F/F pairing I didn't like in Homestuck. I guess what I really can't abide Cronus/Mituna in any capacity, but I'd not really try to like it, since putting a douchecanoe with somebody with mental issues who can't say no isn't just being persnickety, it is legitimately something I never, ever want to see cross my dash. 

Moving swiftly on before I unleash the hounds of quite why that bugs me in any large capacity, I guess the pairings I think are least interesting to me are the het ones, and not because I don't love the characters or dynamics. I just can't raise the enthusiasm to like them as much as pairings that mean much more to me, and god am I tired of heterosexual tropes and the trappings of 'don't you love me, baby.' It's not uncommon to find a man loving a woman, a woman loving a man, and a happy, straight family even if one happens to be an alien or something. I just don't care. I'm going to ship what matters to me, because there's enough people out there who like straight things and are happy with it, and they're welcome to it.
