Intriguing, but I'm not clear how it's steered.
Today on InlineFour All Access, we go behind the doors of RC Engineering in Torrence to see what makes their fuel injector cleaning world class.
Expect It: The Turbo-Four Mustang is a Reality
It’s looking like the rumors are true: Ford’s sixth-generation Mustang will have a turbocharged I-4 as a base engine.
Reports over the past week signaled that Ford would only offer the I-4 for the Mustang's new market in Europe, but now word's come in that Dearborn execs have reconsidered.
Brief history: the second- (1974-78) and third-generation (1979-93) Mustangs both had I-4 engines, but the option was dropped in the mid-Eighties as fuel concerns dwindled and regulatory pressures eased. Since then, a V-6 has served as the Mustang's base motor.
Speculation is centering one of Ford's EcoBoost engines as a likely candidate. Ford currently offers 1.6 (200 HP est.) and 2.0 L (260 HP est.) I-4 variants.
A frugal I-4 engine is seen as necessary to compete because of Europe's higher fuel costs.
