Are modding projects eligible for WIP Wednesday? Is there a guidebook? Regardless, we're posting about modding projects because I don't have an art or writing project (at least not one I'm ready to share), but we are modding in this house. I haven't been able to do much the last few weeks but I'm starting to feel better so we're taking the win.
I'm pretty excited about this one - I'm doing my first "reverse port" and bringing a scar from Veilguard over to Inquisition. I've never messed with complexions before or skin details or anything like that because I thought they were out of my league, but I think I can pull this off! We're still in the rough early stages rn, but I have full confidence in this.
Anyway, it's this scar (modeled by @lunastarhawk's Favian) I stole a pic of the boy.
And this is my progress in DAI - it shows up, yeah?
She looks rough, placement is off, color is... coloring and not in a good way, and I have to fiddle with some of the other texture maps to make it less.... prevalent. But I wasn't even sure how to begin to go about this a few days ago, but I figured it out by myself, and ngl I'm pretty proud of that.... not that it was particularly involved, but I still wrote down the ways I THOUGHT it could be accomplished, and one of them was right - actually all could be right but I'm not messing around to find out unless I have to. I still don't really take myself seriously when it comes to anything modding, so new skills feel like level ups. :) Will I ever do any modding projects that aren't ports? Who knows. At least I'm porting backwards so that's new at least.
I'm probably going to end up combining this with a bit of an "art project" and use a procreate brush to edit some skin details onto my complexion (frecklessss!) so this is totes a creative endeavor.
As a "bonus" (or punishment depending on who is being asked), I realize a lot of people who have never opened Frosty Editor might have never seen flattened skin textures, and it's a trip.

Here’s a little preview of my update for my Inquisitor Enhanced Colors mod that will be rebranded as Inquisitor Enhanced Sliders.
I am aiming to upload this update on the 1st December 2019 so stay tuned.
For now, here’s a little preview of the female elf character creation overhaul.

Okay I am super proud of these retextures. I actually managed to capture exactly the purple I wanted, too. And the green ones look great on all of the Inquisition scouts, too! Official colors, aw yis.
I’ve got one more to test and one more to make. Which will put me at... 7 variations of this thing.
My first full retexture is done! Purple and black with gold heraldry. It affects the Inquisition scouts as well, but there’s nothing I can do about that without doing a full retexture of the medium and heavy armors as well, and... I’m not gonna do that. So the medium and heavy armor scouts will have purple pants and gloves.
I’m going to do a green and black one (the Inquisition’s official colors) and then a version for myself with the black doublet, gold heraldry, and black boots but with tintable shoulder wrap, pants, and gloves.
I have figured out what was preventing me from coloring the doublet actually black instead of a flat, boring medium grey that also took away all of the dirt smudge details.
It was the fucking specular map. Specifically the red channel on the spec map.
It probably wouldn’t have taken me this long to figure it out if I could have actually asked a question on the daitools forum. Modding without the ability to ask people for help is seriously a pain.
But I’m making progress!
Ignore the bright yellow leather by the way, that was an... experiment. Gone horribly wrong.
Kissy’s Inquisition Mod List with A Shit Ton of Mods and a Fuck Ton of Alternatives
My girlfriend @illrae can FINALLY MOD AND PLAY INQUISITION so I wanted to wip up a “quick” and “”easy”” and “””short””” mod list for her to look through and, well, that failed and I made this monster instead! But I’ve really carefully chosen the mods I use and like to mix and match stuff for companions and advisors, so I wanted to post it! There’s prolly some wrong links or mistakes and stuff so let me know if you spot one! I’ve also tried to mark the ones that only work with DLC.

First of all grab the Mod Manager! It’s also a great idea to get the Community Patch. EDIT: I totally forgot the patch is no longer required as of like... last year. No wonder I didn’t have it installed. -_-;;
Skyhold Outfit
Replace Skyhold Outfit with Armors from Multiplayer (!!!) OR Skyhold Outfit + Formal Attire Replacers - replace the skyhold outfit and/or the formal attire with a variety of different armors, or something like the wedding dress (Trespasser DLC required for wedding dress) Use this WITH Invisible Starting Armor to make that ugly ass mercenary armor in the prologue into something badass like the Warden Outfit! What I use for my Amell.
***Bumps Be Gone - important for almost every retexture, this modifies the mesh to take off bumps o the arms and chest.
ELE’s Jammies for female humans or elves but there are conversions for dwarves! I used the blue one for Miriam for ages, might be a little bit of skin tone mismatch.
Another all time fave and the one I always use now is the silver variation of the gold style from Trevelyan’s Wardrobe! Though I think I’ll be trying out this white version of the turquoise style ASAP.

**using Invisible Formal Wear with Trespasser Skyhold Outfit Replacers (or the other replacer i mentioned earlier) lets you wear the wedding dress at the Winter Palace! This requires Trespasser DLC. See below for AMAZING dress retextures!

Sera’s Breeches replaces medium armor or Skyhold outfit with her bomb ass outfits. Need No Class Restrictions in order to wear it on warriors and mages, which is cool to get anyway.
Live Like Viv That’s right. You can be as sexy as Vivienne now (or almost, darling). Hell to the yes.

lbr Morrigan is flawless in the game BUT Tweaked Morrigan is really nice and so is Chasind Morrigan!! You might also like this outfit edit.
and for her lil kiddo I really like to use one of these for a darker Kieran since my friend’s Warden is supposed to be his daddio and he sure as hell ain’t white. There’s also this cool one that gives him his momma’s eyes and hair but unfortunately it’s not compatible with the previous one.
Companions (some face textures may or may not crash the game in DLC)
Solas’s Default Outfit and a nice face texture called The Pride. There’s also this p awesome Fen’Harel texture for Solas, I might use this for end game or something. ALSO EGGS WITHOUT HATS PRAISE JESUS.
I SWEAR BY DA2 Cassandra i love it so much I can’t live without it and the gold armor from Noble Cassandra is p snazzy. There is also this neat Cassandra Trespasser hairdo that looks awesome, but i haven’t tried it yet.
Dorian’s Tousled Hair + Dorian in the Rough because DIMPLES. OR special mention Mohawk for Dorian + Dorian in Black cause you know you’ve always wanted a punk-rock Dorian.
Rainier’d Blackwall I haven’t tried yet but dang. I might do this for end-game. Most importantly though BUNWALL!!!!!!! EDIT: There’s also this awesome mod to trim his beard!!! I like this a lot! Or, you know, you can instead get the version that gives it that extra OOMPH.
Iron Bull - no eye patch is pretty cool and there’s also these awesome textures (WITH THE SEX VITAAR)! Ima download this right now damn
most most importantly: NPC Subtle Tweaks. This “de-shines” all companions and all advisors so they don’t look so gotdang oily, but is not compatible with companion or advisor face textures, so for instance in my case I only got the “de-shine” files for Blackwall, Cole, Dorian, Iron Bull (WITH Bull’s body de-shine christ Bull lay off the oil for once), Solas, Varric, and Viv. Huge huge improvement. Furthermore some face retextures include deshine so it’s really not either/or. **edit: with the Iron Bull textures i listed right above you don’t need his particular de-shine file.
Sera is a very special case because I found this AMAZING modded Sera here and they were kind enough to post the mods required so you need the face texture ONLY from here, just the hair file from Sera Concept Art Hair, a de-shine for sera here, and finally the tint file here! Throw all that together and you will have an AMAZING LOOKING SERA.
Advisors
I love Leliana - the Nightingale. I use that with Iron Lady - scale version default (purple) colors but there’s also Left Hand of the Divine - which I really really want to use sometime. I also have used barefaced Leliana which I really liked. EDIT: I compromised between the two face textures and use The Nightingale with the pale eyelashes from the barefaced Leli link. I lied, they conflict and need manual edits. Sad.
Josephine hair face and dress texture but ONLY download that amazing hair and dress and use it alongside Ambassador Montilyet’s Makeover - the “Makeover and Pearl Earrings - with moles” version (I LOVE!!!). Alternatives for her outfit is Antivan Princess OR Mysterious Josephine.
EDIT 10/28 FOR AN AMAZING ALTERNATIVE JUST RELEASED: Lady Ambassador Outfit & Complexion by momtherford / cullenrutherford. Amazing.
Cullen (yes he gets his own section SHHHH)
If you want Vanilla Cullen but high-res, Cullen Textures by fontofnothing. Dang!
What I’m using right now is Sun-Kissed Cullen but another fave of mine is Dark Knight Cullen, face texture only. Dang. For his outfit I really like The Lion - Red version.
Outfit Alternative and what I’m trying out right now is Cullen of Ferelden - outfit only, black version. Cause I really like the brown fur over the black and red, seems way more Fereldan (who the hell is dying his furs???).
Last but not least, Cullen’s Tousled Hair :B hawt

HAIR RETEXTURE: SK’s Realistic or Smooth Hair OR fontofnothing’s 4K Hair, p sure i use fontofnothing’s for now. Otherwise I use Skara’s Smooth version.
FIRST AND FOREMOST it might be easier to look at daimodder’s Hair Mod Compendium, very clearly see what replaces which mesh, just a lot of links to go through! I’ll still post my faves here.
check out SK Hair Pack + i think there are a few more here, Leto’s Hairstyles and Assorted Hairstyles cause they have a ton of good hairs including a lot of qunari hair (more for qunari here by ELE) that replace a variety of meshes, so just be aware of which replaces what.

Crafting/Clothing tints (these are great for making your stuff look snazzy and CHANGE FUCKIGN PLAIDWEAVE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD)
I use LL Crafting but Seasonal Palettes and Palettes of Thedas both look AMAZING and I want to try them sometime!
Fabric Fixes only changes 3 fabrics but they’re really nice!!
LL Armor Crafting is super handy and lets you tint more pieces on your armor so there’s no weirdly mismatched parts!
Other
Conversation Camera Zoom - this is a really simple mod that I don’t think I can play without now.
Improved Makeup - I don’t use it currently because I prefer minimal makeup on Miriam but I like to use Style 1.
Special mention: Craftable Ardent Blossom (replaces tier 2 Elven Cowl) + Ardent Blossom retexture for all of your flower crown needs!
For visuals, I used DA:I SweetFX for ages (for dat framerate) but now I use Realistic Lighting Reshade (realistic version) and it is exactly what I wanted, SUPER GORGEOUS, it just drops some fps cause ReShade. The Cinematic version is also really pretty.
