I love how they switched out actors and made us believe it was the same. This one is certainly from the 2000s, I remember watching this one but I don't remember it being made so gimmicky. Mark Mitchell!? The minute he appeared, my mind went "oh..so this is basically an extension of round the twist!?" I think I like the first one better, this one felt like it was made just for the gimmick of a legacy without genuinely feeling interested in wanting to relive the hype of Inspector Gadget. Inspector Gadget 2 forces its gag and over use of "Wowzers" to try to drive home that it's Inspector Gadget but the longer you watch it, the longer you'd rather wish you didn't. I think the reason this one feels so bad is because of the use of comedic actors who are overly comfortable in their box playing their roles. French Stewart, who I assume was at his peak during the 2000s was clearly riding that high to take over this role while Mark Mitchell is obviously one of Australia's greatest comic actors from the late 80s. Also with this movie, it shows that they clearly relied on CGI effects because those effects are clearly showing their age. This is definitely one sequel that no one needs to relive. Hold up..wait..your telling me this was filmed in Brisbane!? Also, it's weird seeing how different in the early 2000s how the city of Brisbane looked compared to now.
