I’ve noticed that I have a problem with letting people in and giving them a chance. I’ve been left damaged and emotionally unwell from how people treated me and used me in the past. When you’ve been through depression, suicidal thoughts, and just an overall bad chapter in your life it changes you. When you are finally recovering and trying to get back to the better half of you, you tend to be a little more careful with your time, heart, space, attention and everything above. When you’ve finally gotten a little taste of peace you’ll do anything to protect your peace. I’ve had many instances of possibly meeting new people, a potential boyfriend, meeting friends, making connections and I risked them all because of past experiences(heartbreak, fake friends, unloyal people, liars, manipulators, you name it). I’m only 20 and I know there is a lot more I have to learn and experience in my lifetime, but I have learned that “Don’t let past experiences make you miss the blessings that God has placed in your path.” Although we do have people who have no good intentions, there are also people who DO have good intentions. That person you prayed to god for could be the one a few days ago that asked you out but you snubbed him/her because of the bad experiences you’ve had previously. That one person who tried to befriend you could be God sent but you let them go because of past experiences with fake friends that left you scarred. We have to experience some bad things in our life rather we want to or not. Those are where the life lessons come from. Those bad relationships, fake friends, unloyal people etc. They all shaped you into who you are today. Bad or good they made you the person you are today. Those relationships and friends were not written in stone. Allow God to send you what is written in stone for you. Who and what he has for you can not be taken away. It’ll be written in stone. Let’s allow the past to be just what it is, the past. Let’s open up and be loved the way we deserve to be loved. You are worthy, lovable, and beautiful. Everyone deserves to be loved.
