Two different danger noodles? Or the same one? SAME! #AnimalFact: The photo on the left shows the cool adaptation of belly scales called scutes. They are layered like shingles on a house and help the snake move forward. The photo on the right is of the back of the snake. These scales are smaller than scutes and this lighting shows off the “wet look” of the snake. That’s right, it’s just an illusion- snakes aren’t slimy! Snakes are very dry and smooth. So, just like a well waxed car or polished wood floor looks glossy and shiny as if it were wet, same goes for the snake! If they were slimy, they would be much slower when slithering through their habitat. Being dry and smooth cuts down on friction as they move through their environment. Yep, they are #AwesomeAnimals!
