Violin players I require assistance!

So I just put obligato strings on my violin, as per recommendation by my teacher (also recommended Peter Infeld Pi series but those were like $200) and I'm just curious as to when they'll settle completely? My G and F# up in like third position on the A string are really unstable (to the point where my bow bounces and loses contact a bit and the pitch is like all over, whereas this didn't happen with my Dominants) and it still sounds a bit tinny all over, but it's very resonant and loud. My violin is a Strad copy (or so the family legend goes, there's no sticker inside so I don't really know, but it's estimated worth is $2000 so maybe!) from between 1890-1930, German made, all carved. Not sure if this helps but here ya go. Both of my bows are German made from the 40s. I put the strings on my violin on Tuesday and only missed one day of practice on Wednesday. Any help would be welcome!!!!

yo violin players or people that played the violin: I have wanting to buy one and have never even touched a violin in my life but really want to learn how to play one. what is a good start or beginner violin for me to get?

So I started learning baritone horn about a month ago and right now I can (more or less clearly) play from a low G to a high B flat. I have a few questions if anyone can help me out/give their opinion (I have a teacher but she’s very condescending so)? Thanks!

(just as a side note, I have 8 years of strings experience but I’m new to brass)

1. I’m joining a pretty decent high school marching band in August, what’s expected of my skill level? Range/dynamics/speed etc.

2. On that note, how the hell do brass dynamics work? I’ve figured out loud and louder but anything under mf just goes pfffffff

3. Also on that note, as a beginner should I focus on expanding my range/skill or fine tuning what I’ve already figured out?

4. Do the higher notes really require so much more force than the lower ones or am I just doing it wrong?

So I'm pretty sure I'm going to start learning the baritone (horn not sax) pretty soon so and I found a place that rents them pretty cheap but a google search didn't tell me really what to look for in an instrument? If there's anyone who could help me out that would be great! I've had experience renting stringed instruments but is there anything specific to look for in baritones or brass instruments in general when it comes to picking a relatively good one?
