Analysis of competing works - Myspace/JosephMark
The second site that I looked at for creative publication is Myspace recently redesigned by JosephMark (http://www.josephmark.com.au/) a Brisbane based design firm. It is a great example of how new UX UI interface can alter the feel of a website. This new contemporary interface has allowed the platform to reposition itself as a social media platform.
The total experience is a reflection of social media trending in the current state. Audio-Visual. They layout is purely horizontal, with infinite scrolling - combined with heavy use of visual material for buttons assisted by coding elements of roll over and parallax scrolling completes the unique layout as a well-polished design. These elements consume the majority of the site and provide a storyboard representation for the whole experience.
Leaving the user with a interactive and engaging interface encouraging further experience. The effectiveness of this design is unparalleled with other case studies due to the emphasis of visuals to communicate navigational elements as well as an education tool for further exploration and discovery within this virtual music system.
Whilst conforming to standard navigational layouts with panels around the bottom and top left hand corner. It does so in a non-invasive manner. Where it blurs into the display within the visuals.
The front stage of the UI represents a login page where it allows users to join the community with a presence and collaboration manner. The site also offers the flexibility to browse and an anonymous to simply discover what the site has to offer. This is a great tool as it offers levels of engagements to appeal to a broader audience and a verity of different users with different media habits.
Interactive elements within the visuals represent roll over elements for users they act as portals to a deeper level within the site. This interactive feedback prompts interaction from the user within the website navigational possibilities as well as the encouragement engagement.
Within the raw interface the titles are displayed where the bulk of description and social engagement and feedback is triggered with user interaction. Within first encounter with this interaction the user is able to understand the mechanics of UI elements.
When one navigates to a specific artist/feature article the text is placed on the right hand side to foreground the images within the space. The Text is right aligned and brief to maximise communication messaging and description.
This platform allows the blurring of boundaries between artists and individuals and like-minded communities around the world. This is the key concept that I was able to take away from this website.
Allowing the interaction between publishers and visitors. A useful element in terms of any self-publication format and professional development.
