New York Auto Show adds 2017 Buick Encore to the roster

On the eve of the New York International Auto Show Buick has decided to reveal online the refreshed 2017 Encore.

The facelifted model adds a touch of styling to the predecessor’s design lines and as such brings a new front end with a revised winged grille that is flanked by fresher headlights.

The designers also tweaked the mirrors, LED taillights and chrome exhaust tips. Rounding out the exterior changes are the new set of wheels and a revised color palette that includes Black Cherry Metallic, Ebony Twilight Metallic, and White Frost Metallic. More importantly the cabin has not been left out and the modifications here are even more substantial than on the outside.

The Encore now has an all new dashboard, a refreshed center stack, as well as an improved 8-inch IntelliLink infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality.

The owners will also be greeted by higher quality materials, a push-button ignition, contrast stitching, and new metallic accents. Motivation comes courtesy of a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine linked to a standard six-speed automatic gearbox.

Buick was coy on performance specifications but the predecessor used the same powerplant and it delivered 138 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque or 153 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque. Pricing will be revealed closer to the actual dealership introduction, slated for this fall.
