23.3.2019 1 from 100 days of productivity
I believe this one will be without a picture. However, today’s day turned out to be pretty successful from my perspective, at least it happened to be a lot better in terms of my productivity than any other day this month. I have just finished doing my things and it’s 3am right now. Guess I have started with C++ programming at about 4 or 5 pm, so I have spent enough time and did enough practicing to learn the basics. I am slow and thoughtful, so usually require twice as time as any other normal human to get along with any topic.
I thought I’ll fail this day, as far as I did not get up early and spent a few hours watching a very stupid TV show. Have not clue what got me so motivated afterwards. Nevertheless, it always happens that once I have started something I have no abilities to stop doing it. So, once I let myself to procrastinate, welcome to the endless circle. The same goes to any activity, like once I have started C++ today’s evening, I could barely stop myself and was forced to go to bed.
That’s a pity that I did not manage to define some time for driving school, what means that I have to plant my day tomorrow more carefully and do through both C++ and driving theory.
By the way, I read just 30 pages today, what is not a good result as well. When I start doing something interesting and exciting, I am always thinking about how sad is that we have just 24 hours. However, it is more of my own problem, as far as it takes me too long to get engaged.
By the way, you can see some parts of what I was doing today here: cpp.sh/2cdba (saving this link for myself as well).
i have to go back to school at 6 this morning to finish hw.....so does everyone else
İki haftadır her gün dinliyorum
I was just talking the other day about how clean my desk was and now I can't even remember what colour it is
The Beauty of Knowledge
March 6, 2014
The second session of the Overachiever’s Discussion Group has been adjourned and will resume next Thursday, March 13, 2014 from 5:30pm - 6:30pm.
This week, we viewed videos pertaining to Academic Pressure in both the United States and South Korea.
This is the Race to Nowhere trailer. After this clip we discussed:
Pressure (by parents, teachers, colleges)
How we're told to perform, not learn deeply
Students dreading school
How not making enough $ = something went wrong
Doing well now to get into good colleges
No room for mistakes?
Be smart, involved in the arts, sports, & homework
Message is to "keep producing"?
Love of learning?
Economy? Jobs?
Then, the Documentary Preview of Korean High Schools. After this clip we discussed:
Intense studying and why it is the topic of my Graduation Project
Studying about 16 hours a day (8 at school, the rest in a Hagwon)
No hobbies, just studying
Studying to reach your dreams
Suicide (attempts and unfortunate successes)
Mental health
Flaws in their system
Pressure caused by education
"Beauty" and being of "value"
Finally, we watched Differences Between North American and South Korean Students. And discussed the differences between all the videos watched during the session and this more lighthearted video.
Afterwards, we did a speed round covering our own pressures. What’s been bothering us and what we’ve found can help us get past the stress, a share of un-stressing tips.
Food for Thought: Watch An Ordinary Day at a Korean High School for more on Korean high school culture. There are also more videos on my school blog!
I hope everyone enjoy themselves and got something out of what we talked about!
Next week is board games week! SEE YOU THEN!!!
