*･ﾟ✧ ❁ ✧*･ﾟA Ghost is always aiming to be of use to a Guardian, their Guardian.

So what happened to a Ghost when they didn’t have a Guardian? For some, they become moody and quiet and focused all their energies on finding them no matter what it took. For some, they turned their attention to the Tower and helping the Vanguard with tasks like data and documentation to ease the burden of command.

But for a particular little Ghost zipping about the Tower on a snowy day?

They just wanted to make others happy in their own way.

     “Happy Winter Festival!” They sprung up behind the individual in question, zipping overhead as they dropped a very small card as they flew over. Surprise, random target of the Ghost’s whimsy - It seemed to be a little well-wish of having a good winter festival.

*･ﾟ✧ ❁ ✧*･ﾟThe Winter Ball wasn’t all the exciting for the Ghost.

Beyond a spirited game of tag and one round of ‘don’t annoy the Vanguard Commanders’, the Ghost hadn’t found anything else to do. Never one to let something simple as boredom get the best of them, the little light took matters to their own nodes by ‘helping’ out the frames by taking one of the tray full of drinks and serving it to passing Guardians or vendors or citizens who had happened to catch their eye.

For example:

     “Hello there! Would you like a drink?” The Ghost zipped towards them, the drinks sloshing dangerously on the tray balanced on them but, somehow, they managed to not spill a drop as the Ghost skidded to a halt in front of the other. “I have alcoholic drinks, non-alcoholic drinks, fruity drinks- This one weird drink here that supposedly can ‘blast’ you in two sips but I’ve seen one of the veteran Guardians knock these back like a champ so it varies, I guess.”

*･ﾟ✧ ❁ ✧*･ﾟ The holidays were a fun time for Poppy and for many reasons! Enemies were less likely to patrol thanks to the chilly weather and exploring was much safer. Trolling Guardians were much kinder due to the holiday spirits so entering the City was much less annoying. Everyone, in general, was much nicer in her experience so pets and scratches were much more likely to be given. There was also the fact they were quite well-hidden in the more snowy environments thanks to their pale white shell. A fact Poppy was more than happy to use when playing pranks.           "Boo!" Out came a little Ghost, having hidden herself in a pile of snow. They tried to sound scary but their ‘boo!’ quickly dissolved into bubbly laughter at how silly she was being. Hopefully Elise hadn’t mind too much. "Did I get you? Did I get you?"

The fact wasn’t something new or really extraordinary considering the other feats a Ghost could do. Long as Ghosts and Guardians were around, so was the long-standing tradition of a Ghost blasting out classical music or ‘classical’ music either for themselves or for someone else.

For the little Ghost that was busy exploring the ruins of an old and mighty city by themselves, the blaring of a festive pre-Golden Age song was most certainly for them and them alone since they, to their knowledge, hadn’t noticed another presence yet. They sang along to the tune, their voice wobbling and breaking here and there but points for the Ghost in trying.

   “Dashing through the snow in a two-engine sparrow sleigh! Over the fields we go, dancing all the way! Bells on Ghosts are ringin’, making the Guardians bright! What fun it is to laugh and sing a sleighing song tonight! Oh jingle bells! Jingle bells! Jingle all the way-”

Perhaps it wasn’t the smartest thing to do when a Ghost is all by themselves in the wilderness but! It was the holidays! How could they now be excited? What’s the worse that could happen?

“This isn’t funny.”

The poor Ghost’s grumblings is unheard thanks to the Traveler mask that was placed on top of them, courtesy of some Guardians who thought it’ll be hilarious to have a weighted mask be placed on top of the Ghost was innocently taking a nap in a secluded place of the Tower.

Ohhh! They bump up against the mask and still no luck. It’s too heavy to get off on their own and they’ve tried calling for help but it seems everyone is too busy with getting candy from the Vanguard.

Muttering under their breath, they finally go to one of their final resorts and open a private channel with someone, hoping she’s close enough to the Tower to drop by and give the Ghost some quick help. They’ll make it up to her, promise! They can probably steal some candy from the Commander when he isn’t looking or something.

“Hello? Hellooooo? Are you there? I need help with something. Um...” There’s a little pause, trying to figure out how to explain her situation without making it sound silly and ohhh nevermind- “Some jerks trapped me in a mask and now I can’t get out by myself. Can you give me a hand? A pair of hands at least?”

Supply crates piled up provide only temporary shelter. No psions have found her yet, where she hides behind the boxes in a small supply room. They are furiously searching, she can feel their minds being thrown around in their hunt. They have not yet found her footprints in the puddles of blood, and while she has taken a severe beating, caught terribly under armed.. She has not gone down without giving the Cabal a fight they won’t soon forget.

Yet she is not alone, her sensors pick up a faint light buried beneath the presence of the hunting psions. Eriana feigns a smile, even though her systems are battered, optics are glitching to the point she closes her eyes against the fuzzy images, and her limbs are not fully cooperating.

“Little one.” Years had drifted by since her own ghost had been lost, yet somehow the presence of this one is still comforting. Her rifle is nearly out of bullets, strewn across her lap where she’s slouched with her back pressed to the wall. She still has another option. “Take this distress beacon, plant it somewhere high up. Can you do that for me?”

The Ghost can’t help but give a beep of distress, quiet and meaningful, as they float helplessly. This isn’t how they had hoped to find a Guardian. This isn’t what they hoped to discover when venturing so far from safety, from protection of others.

Still. They’re a Ghost. They’re meant to help the Traveler, the Guardians so they give a little beep of confirmation as they take the beacon and they’re about to hurry off but... they don’t. Not yet. Besides the fact they know there are a few enemies still lingering nearby the makeshift hideaway - There’s no way they’re just going to leave them in a state like this if there’s a way to help them right away.

“Guardian? After I do this is there anything else I can do?” Anything? Anything at all? Seeing the Guardian in such a state was more than upsetting. More than distressing. Something about the sight scared them and they wished wished wished that there was more they could do to make this better.
