The start of the New Year was a time for tradition- of course, to Leib there was two new years, the traditional, Rosh Hashanah, which was months back, and then the one everyone else observed. It was like that most of his life, celebrating things at different times from the people around him. It was exhausting. He hummed softly as he followed his own New Year tradition, cleaning up his workspace. In the time since he’d come to the library he’d made the once sterile place a more comfortable place that encouraged people to stay, to learn, and to be at peace. Of course, there was always the threat of Dhani finding people who were a little too comfortable in the nooks and crannies of the library, places Leib had jokingly offered to put up curtains in so they would have a bit more privacy- a joke that had not gone over well with Dhani, but he loved his dominion. He had always loved being a librarian, and there was no mistake about it, it was what he was going to spend the rest of his life doing.
Wiping down the counter behind his computer monitor Leib was humming along softly to the gentle jazz music that played over the speakers in the library, he found a nutter butter wrapper and pulled it out before tossing it to the ground where Monster Truck batted at the wrapper and then hopped onto the desk. “Hey,” Leib said as he looked at the cat. “Most of what I’m cleaning up is your fur, do you think you can give me a break?” he asked with a grin as he picked the cat up and moved him to the counter, higher than the desk. It was then he noticed the young woman standing there and he smiled. “Hey, sorry, hope you weren’t waiting too long. I gotta find where Dhani hid my bell.” he apologized. “Can I help you?”
