40 years ago... Soyuz 39 and Intercosmos Mongolia The March 1981 Soyuz 39 flight marked the eighth Intercosmos mission, this time with Gurragcha, the very fist cosmonaut from Mongolia. It was the 2nd spaceflight for cosmonaut Vladimir Dzhanibekov as the crew stayed onboard the Salyut-6 space station conducting scientific experiments during a 7 days 20 hours mission. Note that Dzhanibekov wore an Omega Speedmaster 861 chronograph underneath his Sokol spacesuit, a wristwatch he received in 1973 as a support cosmonaut for the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project. Soviet propaganda poster (Moscow, 1978). "CCCP: The Era of October, The Era of Great Accomplishments" (ЭРА ОКТЯБРА- ЭРА ВЕЛИКИХ СВЕРШЕНИЙ). Artwork: N. Babin, I. Ovacapov and A. Yakushin.
This poster was created for the success of the Interkosmos Missions led by the Soviet Union. These missions were the first to fly astronauts into space from countries other than the Soviet Union and the USA. The obvious propaganda of this poster is suggested by the correlation of the Russian revolution in October 1917 to the success of the Interkosmos missions of October 1978. The soviets also added the image of Yuri Gagarin to the poster, their Hero of the Soviet Union to remind one and all, that it was the CCCP who was leading other countries of the world into space.

1976 - 2021 = 45 years Russian military chronographs in space ! In 1976, Soviet-Russian cosmonauts started to wear the Russian Poljot 3133 military chronographs as standard time piece during Soyuz spaceflight missions to the Salyut-5 & -6 space stations. About 50 cosmonauts have worn these military chronographs during 30 Soyuz spaceflight missions between 1976 and 1994. The black dial OKEAH version was the first to be worn during Soyuz 23 (1976) while the gray dial military wing Shturmanskie 31659 version was still worn during Soyuz TM-16 to the Mir space station (1993). In March 1994, the gray dial was still seen during training for the Soyuz TM-20 EuroMir spaceflight mission, worn by Yuri Gidzenko. (Photo: MoonwatchUniverse)
Ad Astra... Miroslaw Hermaszewski The first and only Polish cosmonaut Miroslaw Hermaszewski, passed away on December 12, 2022 at the age of 81. He flew On Soyuz 30 to Salyut-6 space station in June 1978 with Russian colleague Piotr Klimuk during the Intercosmos program, logging 7 days, 22 hours, 2 minutes, 59 seconds and 125 orbits in space! Wrist watch-wise interesting as Hermaszewski wore 3 watches among which a Raketa and Unitra Warel electronic. (Photo: Roscosmos/TASS)
O programa Intercosmos é un exemplo mais do carácter progresista do socialismo e a necesidade deste para alcanzar o ben común.
