Did Sephiroth create a false explanation for the red string on Nameless?? (Or did some outer force put this image in his head? 🤔)

Is this a reference to the traditional Japanese craft of “Kumihimo?”

Note the red cords on the helmet!

I cannot tell if Nameless is decorated with a plaited cord or if it is a ribbon…

The concept art shows what looks more like cord to me!

I am not able to reach my Japanese source at this time so if anyone has thoughts on the possible “kumihimo” reference please share with me!

From a speculation angle, I would not be surprised if the loss of his photo of “Jenova” has made Sephiroth desperate for some connection to his mother. If that is the case and this red braid is the item referenced in the dream, then he could have told himself that it was a gift from his mother. That way he could feel closer to her. That depends on if my guess is right though!

It's interesting how changing the game's language gives a different player experience. I played my first run in french and Sebastian and Abigail didnt strike me as unfriendly but now that I'm started a new farm from scratch with my game in english, I can clearly understand why the fandom sees them that way.
