So, I went to the last show of the Intergalactic Tour with Ian Axel, Bess Rogers, and Allie Moss in Boston last Wednesday, annnd it was pretty much amazing. I actually almost didn't go (I changed my mind at least 10 times throughout the day), just because I was still recovering from last week's illness and I wasn't totally comfortable going alone (no one wants to do anything on a Wednesday night). BUT I ended up going and I am so glad. It was an absolutely incredible experience. I always forget that I actually like doing things alone. Like, I love my friends and I love spending time with them, but sometimes it's nice to do something just for yourself. I don't do it very often, but maybe I should start to, 'cause it can be a really good experience.
So after the show, I stuck around for a few minutes to talk to Ian Axel. I told him how much I love "Say Something," and how it got me through kind of a rough time last semester (when all that shit was going down with Marc), and I thanked him for it. I felt kind of awkward, but I figured that anyone would love hearing that something they'd obviously poured their heart into affected someone else in such a powerful way. He thanked me, and told me it really meant a lot to him to hear that, and he told me the full story behind the song. We talked for a couple minutes more and then we hugged and I left.
So all in all it was an incredible night. I got to see (and hug) one of my favorite artists (again); I didn't get lost; and I didn't miss the last Commuter Rail back to Brandeis and get stranded in Boston (this was a very real fear for me, and about half the reason I almost didn't go). So yeah. Life is pretty good.
