Dear Reader,
I hope this finds you well if it finds you at all. If you have found this, then congratulations on finding it, as I never expected this message to end up making it back home to Earth. I know that you may not believe me, but I am not on Earth.
That is not to say that I'm an alien, I am from Earth, but circumstances beyond my control have led to me no longer being a resident of our wonderful planet. I did not choose to leave, and I may want to go back if I ever get the chance, but I doubt I will ever get that opportunity.
I have been given a unique chance to tell the people of Earth of things in the universe that they will likely never experience unless somehow in the three years I've been gone they have suddenly gained deep space traveling technology. I will go into detail at a later time about how I managed to get stuck out here, but for now, I'll tell you a little bit about myself.
Hello Dear Reader, my name is [REDACTED], I am a [REDACTED] year old [REDACTED] and my dream job all throughout my life had always been to be able to travel and write about it. I used to look through the National Geographic magazines at the public library every day after school until any of my various guardians over the years were able to pick me up after school. I had been trying to save up to go to school for journalism and photography, and I was doing lots of online tutorials on trying to draw nature, environments and cityscapes to the greatest realism I could manage. This isn't exactly what I had in mind for my dream job; I honestly expected to end up writing up and making pamphlets for travel agencies and making websites for resorts. Considering the hand that life has dealt me, and that this will help keep me sane while I'm out here, I will take what I can get.
Enough about me for now, I wanted to send out a test message. I wanted to see if anybody would see this at all, and if it did, then I will start to tell people about the wonderful things I have seen out here. I will try and add any drawings I have done, and if I can manage to get my hands on a camera, I will start to send photos of things I see out here.
I'll let you know a little of where I have settled for now. I have been on Rylox V for six Earth months. It has a climate that I would say is similar to temperate fall on Earth. Mild to chilly, overcast and raining a lot of the time. Everything here is covered in moss and made from rocks that are a foggy opacity in a blue-grey color, almost as if someone has dyed milky quartz to the color of blue slate and carved houses from it. The streets are carved with channels to draw the frequent rainfall to a basin at the base of the hill the town is built on, that is filled with underwater plants and creatures that the people subsist on.
The people here are interesting to look at, and seem to be some sort of amphibious species. They rather look like if someone gave the coloring of a poison dart frog to a sea dragon, made it bipedal and gave it four arms besides their legs. They have clothing that is made from spinning dried out moss into yarn and attaching scales from some of the larger species of underwater fauna to the woven fabric. They use some sort of algae to waterproof the clothing that makes it both stiff and soft to wear.
I have been doing odd jobs here for some time after I gained my freedom, (again, I will go into more detail at a later time, once I feel more comfortable talking about it), but I feel as though I may be over-staying my welcome, and will try to bargain my way onto the next cargo ship headed for another neutral planet. I almost hope that it is one that is a little drier, but with my luck so far in life, I feel as though I would end up on a desert planet, and not to sound too cliché for a space traveler, I don't much care for sand.
I feel that I am rambling now, so I am going to sign off and send this out and hope that I get some sort of an indication that someone is getting it. I'll still probably send out other messages, if only to use this as some sort of journal to keep my sanity intact as the only human out here.
I wish you well Dear Reader, and thank you for reading.
