That is interesting to hear! Also probably one of those ‘unpopular opinions’ - the general gist I get from the response it has received so far is that many fans seem to hate it... 

I certainly don’t - I find it extremely nuanced and melancholic, even if some of the events leave me scratching my head a bit. It seems to me that instead of external developments, we are seeing more internal developments, which by default are harder to see and take at face value. 

King Ecbert was beautifully described as well, and again, in my rewatch I started to see subtle but clear differences in the temperaments of Ragnar’s sons - which undoubtedly will play a role in the future.
