To all readers out there

So when I was in middle school, eighth grade I think, I read this book for a project and loved it; but now I can't remember the name of it... I was hoping my internet peeps could help a girl out. The story was about a girl (I think) who moved to the country outside a small town. She found this old house down a dirt road, and on the gate was a skull and cross-bones and a keep-out sign. She befriended a boy who also lived near there. They would go explore the house and the grounds and stuff. It's definitely meant for young readers, and I think might have been a thriller-type thing, and fiction. I realize this is probably a really long-shot, but if you have any idea what it might be I would definitely appreciate it :)

So, I read this post by @egobangin-in-the-house-tonight. 

I honestly didn’t hear this in Arin’s comment but, I will take it. 

As I said before I don’t believe they are racist, and to assume he is just confirming that there is a sound bit (several actually) with him saying that word makes more sense, than him still using it casually, like it doesn’t matter.

It still sounds off to me, but this does make me feel better about the whole situation.

I grew up in Arkansas, so you guys should at least have some idea why that word affects me personally.  There are still some towns in that state, and in the South in general,  we have to avoid when we go on trips.

If nothing else came out of this situation, it is nice to find out that some of the people I’ve been following and interacted with are black too.

Makes me feel less alone in the fandom.
