Internet Doctor.
I came across two questions online today that made me want to slap the writers.
Firstly a guy on yahoo answers who put a photo up of his dick asking if it looked normal (because of a slight curve in the shaft), if it was the right size for a 17 year old. I started to reply with something about how there’s no real normal, how penises (peni? What’s the plural here? Just penises? How boring!) vary in size, shape, colour, look, etc. But then I backspaced and rather than writing even a smartarse answer I said dude this is the net, do you think many doctors just stumble onto your question? If you think it looks abnormal go the doctors!
The second was in a Mum’s group where the lady went on about her child’s symptoms (quite a few symptoms and not just oh my kids got a slight temp or my kids got this little bite on her leg) and whether she should go to the hospital or wait and see and maybe go to see her normal doctor tomorrow. Most of the answers said go to the hospital if you are really worried. But there were a couple of smartarse answers and a meme from the sims where the baby is on fire but the mums on the computer saying hold on snowflake, mommy’s just asking the mom groups. I didn’t comment but seriously!
Wtf is with asking strangers on the Internet- 99% of whom have no qualifications- medical questions. Sure they can give opinions from their own experience but it’s not qualified experience. And I just don’t get why they ask. Sometimes a new mother might panic and ask and I do get that, but when we are talking major symptoms then no, follow proper medical advice.
Rant over.
