Today was interschools, between our school and two others. Generally, our school is pretty negative towards interschools, but this year was different; we genuinely wanted to win. We started to enjoy doing cheers we laughed at when they were introduced, and put in more hours than ever before. Our cheering today was fantastic. I'd never seen us more determined to win. When the cheerleaders told us to sit down and take a break, we told them that we wanted to continue cheering. It was a huge turnaround from just a few weeks before - we finally believed that we were capable of winning.
If only the judges saw things the same way.
We won the athletics trophy, but came second for spirit, and our cheerleaders came third. I can understand us not winning the spirit trophy (the winners are impressive every year). However, I can't accept the fact that they rated our cheerleaders as the worst.
Our cheerleaders were amazing; they never stopped or gave up. They gave 110% throughout the day. Their level of energy and spirit was incredible. There was no contest - they were clearly the best.
Facebook's been full of statuses about the day. There hasn't been a single negative one yet. Everyone's been going on about how we came together for once, and how we were the best school on the day. I agree with every one of them.
Today, our school was united. My voice is half-gone, and turns into a tiny whisper any time I try to raise my tone, but that's fine; it was for a good cause. I'm proud of how my school performed today. I'll link to the video of the main cheer once it's on Youtube. Kthnxbai
