“Intersectional”
Linoleum cut print on black paper
This print was created for a Dead Matter Press print exchange under the theme “Ouroboros” (the ancient symbol of the snake eating it’s own tail, a symbol of eternity, introspection and re-creation.) The snakes in this print are overlapping/intersecting and giving voice to related systems of oppression. “Intersectionality is the idea that multiple identities intersect to create a whole that is different from the component identities.” This term was introduced and developed by Kimberlé Williams Crenshaw.
