Hi, sorry for a silly question out of blue, but it struck me and then I realised I know someone living in Spain to ask: how does exactly siesta works logistics-wise? Are people used to go back to home for a few hours even if they have a pretty long commute time or are there spaces in cities to wait it out?
Siesta really isn't a thing in cities, and I've never worked anywhere else. Going back home just to take a nap sounds wild, hahaha. I wouldn't mind it one bit if we had spaces designated just for that, though (?). Most shops don't close down in the middle of the day in Madrid, although most jobs do have long lunch periods (one or two hours), maybe that's why the rest of Europe think we nap in that time?
Last year when I was working two jobs I had a free hour between one and the other and I did take a nap on a sofa in the second one because I was always exhausted. They just allowed it. I don't think that's a normal ocurrence anywhere though.
I can see it still being a thing in villages and small towns in the South. You close down in the hottest hours, go home, take a siesta if you wish, and go back to work, no commute.
