General strike!
For the first time in twelve years, all French unions are calling to unlimited strike, starting today 19th January 2023.
Streets are getting crowded. The President, his wife and quite a bunch of ministers are abroad, state officials roam the television networks to state that none of it will change a thing to the government's decision to pass, despite the Parliament's opposition, the most unpopular counter-reform to our Labour laws in many, many years—indeed, Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne has already used her constitutional trump card ten times in a row to bypass parliamentary opposition to the punishing retirement reform that had been shelved when the pandemic hit. President Macron has always been a vocal admirer of the late Margaret Thatcher's after all. He's planned not to back down; the struggle should be painful.
