s.t.r.e.s.s.i.n’.
I slept for over 11 hours, sweat my ass off at the gym, just did an hour of Yoga, and now I'm eating spicy ass soup. Can you tell I'm absolutely desperate to get better?
I'M REALLY HOPING I GET THIS JOB THAT PAYS $10 AN HOUR.
Wooooooo WiFi is back!!!!!
So not only do I get to come back to the tumblr madness I also just got an interview/ job? For a non profit organization that is doing a parenting magazine and they needed someone who can beat InDesign into submission (cuz InDesign is evil and most often than not didn't want to do as its told)! EEEEEEE *dances around happily* yep good day!
Interview Friday with Artist Robert Peterson
Whats your alias?
My name is Robert Peterson but I am known throughout social media as caleblee81.
Where are you from?
I am originally from Denver Colorado but have been in Lawton, OK on and off since 96.
What do you do that separates you from the rest?
I think my consistent post of dope work and use of colors are a few things that set me apart from other artist along with my faith in God.
When did you start doing these amazing sketches? Did you go to school to learn how to illustrate?
I discovered my style about 16 months ago when a friend @dannynunes asked me to draw a pic of him. The pic he chose was one that had a blue filter and I didn't have but two or three shades of blue in my collection of markers at the time. I remember telling him in an email that I was just going to have fun with his pic. I turned on some Asking Alexandria and dumping out all of my markers and making it work. I am completely self taught through trial and error.
Why do you Love it?
I love what I do because it allows me to be creative & provide for my family. It's also given me a platform to be able to inspire and motivate others.
What motivates you to keep working? How have you improved over the years with your work?
Memories of a broke past and hopes for a more prosperous future motivate me, knowing that what I do today will allow my family and others to live better tomorrow is pretty motivational. I've only been doing what I do for about 18 or 19 months. I think I'm getting better just because I'm constantly working.
The best decade for art in your opinion?
I think we are living in the best decade, there are some really dope artist out right now trying to set themselves apart from what was.
If you could illustrate any past album for a music artist who would it be and why?
If I could illustrate any album it would be Elton John hits 1970-2002. He is a genius. If not him then any Michael Jackson album or even a Kanye West album. I think that these three men have changed music and how the world listens to music.
What do you do to get out of a creative rut when you cant think of any ideas?
I have never had a creative rut, I was homeless less than five years ago and just started doing art for real about 19 months ago. I sold my first piece of artwork about a year ago and since then the value has continued to go up so I don't have time for a creative rut, I draw and paint always. I'm lucky if I get 36 hours of sleep a week.
When did " you" know you had a great talent?
I knew I had a great talent when my daughter asked me if she could hang my artwork up in her room. I'm use to my kids asking if I will hang their work up lol. It was confirmed when the rapper Fabolous reposted my artwork and when Swizz Beatz got my phone number and hit me up, one of the first things he said to me was "Im a fan of your artwork" this man kicks it with Damien Hirst, Mr Brainwash, Shepard Fairey, Brian Donnelly/Kaws and so many other dope artist.
5 daily essentials for you are?
Five daily essentials. Make sure my kids are ready for school and know that before they walk out the door to school that I love them, pray, draw, look for new photos & talk to my wife before She goes sleep (I stay up working most nights)

What is the most annoying thing about people knowing you can illustrate really well?
The most annoying thing about people knowing I'm an artist is that they expect me to draw them for free or give them some type of crazy hook up, this is my career and only source of income.

Facts about me that people don't know, I want to learn how to fly a plane, I want to learn how to play the piano, I don't cuss.
