Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative Funds For Human Cell Atlas Projects

The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, the Redwood City-based nonprofit founded by Priscilla Chan, MD, and Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, announced on June 21 That the Launching of a $68 million grant for the continued development of the Human Cell Atlas. These collaborative classes bring together researchers, computational biologists, software engineers, and doctors to encourage the continued evolution of the Human Cell Atlas (HCA), an international effort to map all of the cells in the human body. CZI announced that it would be funding those 38 three-year projects a while ago, together with 85 single-family jobs along the very same lines. It's rare for a scientist or laboratory gets a blank check for anything they feel like performing. "The global Human Cell Atlas effort is a beacon for what can be accomplished when experts across scientific fields and time zones work together towards a common goal," Cori Bargmann, Ph.D., CZI's thoughts of science, said in a statement. "With CZI's Seed Networks grants, we're excited to support further and build interdisciplinary collaborations that will accelerate progress towards a first draft of the Human Cell Atlas." CZI's early support of pilot projects for the HCA, helped the community develop shared targets, criteria, assays, protocols, and technical tools while exploring a landscape of potential HCA projects. The Seed Networks ask for applications is CZI's third in support of the HCA within a previous couple of years. Formerly, CZI declared support for 85 projects to make collaborative computational tools in support of constructing the HCA, as well as 38 pilot projects to help initiate best practices and technologies. The next material that we are using for our project are “Bottle Bricks.” Let’s see and understand what they are:

1.       Bottle Bricks                    

Bottle Bricks make up for a very simple and accessible technology that can transform everyday plastic materials into a useful building material – plastic bottles stuffed full of trash until they are as compact as bricks. Also known as “Eco-bricks” and “Portable Landfill Devices,” Bottle Bricks are now being increasingly used around the world as a viable way to clean up the environment, prevent plastic pollution, and create a much needed building material.

The process is incredibly simple – collect dry inorganic waste material (plastic bags, plastic wrappers, twist ties, etc.) and stuff it into a clean plastic bottle with a wooden stick or spoon. The more you stuff, the more plastic you will divert from the landfill or clean up out of the environment, and the stronger your bottle brick will be!

Our method of filling up the bottles was a bit different but more or less the same. We used on site sand and filled the bottles with it in order to make the bottles sturdy and more durable for they would then be able to occupy every inch of the bottle in an efficient manner.

Once a celebrated spot, the Jheel Park now lies in the depths of despair with grazing cattle and petty crimes now defining its geography to the masses. Located in the heart of Hari nagar, the Jheel park houses the Tihar lake or what once used to be the Tihar lake, where boating and sight-seeing were once a prominent feature but now lie biting dust under the scorching sun.

As an initiative to bring back the once famous public spot to its former glory, the DUAC has proposed many significant changes to its set up in order to rekindle the deteriorating public space. But as the norm goes, good things take time and good government proposals even more, so, as students we have come with some simple yet effective solutions (keeping in mind the “Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan”) so as to invigorate the dead spaces and bring back the spark again.
