I was suggesting that you could simulate what a Bell or even another one of your characters would say when you think your current answer is not long enough/intimidating and then just take that into account. Re: Bells, they tend to put everything in a specifically Bellish way that might not be always entirely tactful but it might help with things.

I think I will wait for corroborating opinion on this before I try to implement it.  Also part of the problem is that I can’t reliably tell when a thing I say might be intimidating.

You seem to be good at doing acceptably long answers with Bells; maybe if you did that with anons/easily intimidated people, it might help?

I’m not sure if you’re saying I should answer asks directed at me in-character as Bells or something else, but that seems like a weird thing to do.  I’m also not aware of Bells having any tactful tendencies including this one...

On the intimidating thing: I used to find you intimidating, but then I realized that you say exactly what you mean. This was a huge relief. Many people seem to use terse replies to convey unspoken irritation. Also you're writing is beautiful and it's easy to be nervous around people you admire.

On the one hand, the celebrity thing and the terseness can make you seem intimidating. On the other, you say "*waves pompons* tell culture!" and when I send you e-hugs you say "*purr*". That adds up to "adorable and not-intimidating" I'm pretty sure.

This probably doesn’t generalize, but: My ask was more about glowfic and story worldbuilding than AUSJ worldbuilding; I used to limit my AUSJ asks before somebody else anon. asked if you wanted them limited and you said no; I had not liked that I was asking more than most other people before that. I feel similarly about the Make My Characters Talk To Each Other and Talk To Effulgence Characters threads; I engage with those more than everybody else and often I feel like it’s too much.

I’m getting sort of generally tired of MMCTTEO and might close it soon but that’s not about you in particular.  TTEC doesn’t have this problem.

I used to find you intimidating Because Celebrity, but now find you less so. On the instances when we’ve interacted in a realtime context (usually dead Mafia IRC channels) you have seemed somewhat more so but that’s probably still Celebrity. I sometimes get the feeling you’re annoyed with the quantity of worldbuilding stuff I ask about (from your terse replies) but I do not think this is usually true, especially after reading the #intimigate tag and seeing you mention Tell Culture several times.

I like worldbuilding!  If I get a worldbuilding question and I do not like it the response is going to be more like “oh dear that sounds like math” than something unclear.  Some people manage to ask questions that I understand clearly more consistently than other people (and I am limited in my ability to respond to this all Tell Culture if it’s still comprehensible enough for me to try answering in character) - that might be something you’re picking up on.

I don't find you intimidating online or in person, but I suspect I might if we were interacting one-on-one and I felt the need to Contribute Equally? Tell culture is good and helpful.

again primarily as a datapoint: i find you somewhat intimidating (mostly because you're really well known and multiple people who I super respect and/or are legitimately intimidating refer to you by name, but also because you have a large, popular, & fairly successful project going on in the ausj series) but mostly not (because when we've interacted you've never seemed dismissive in any way)

I find it hard to gauge how “popular and successful” AUSJ is, but thanks for the datapoint!
