Game informer’s Pokémon Sword and Shield coverage!
Game Informer’s next issue is focused on Sword & Shield and to celebrate, they've been allowed to release various bits of information about the upcoming games, Pokémon Sword & Shield! ⚔️ 🛡
Pokémon that were cut from Sword and Shield will return in the future.
Pokémon Sword And Shield will introduce an Auto-save feature to the series but it can be turned off if you do so wish.
They also confirmed that HMs do not return in these games.
Pokemon Sword and Shield is giving players a new way to interact with massive versions of the Pokemon they’re already familiar with through a feature called “Max Raid Battles.” Multiple players can take part in these colossal fights against Pokemon who make use of the game’s similarly new Dynamax and Gigantamax mechanics, and even those who are new to the whole concept of a “raid” in games should be able to find them accessible. This feature was in the works prior to the release of raids in Pokemon Go, but the Max Raid Battles still took a bit of inspiration from the mobile game after seeing how popular the feature was.
They revealed that EXP Share is automatic, without use of an item in Pokémon Sword & Shield. It's currently unclear if it will be able to be turned off.
The interview implies more aspects of a Pokémon, previously left to breeding (hinted as "a personality parameter") will be changeable in Pokémon Sword & Shield. they will have mechanics to let you use you favorite Pokémon competitively!
There are to be 18 gyms in the game with different gyms being in the Major League and different in the Minor League between game version, for example Bea's Fighting-type Gym is in the Major League in Sword while Allister's Ghost-type Gym is in the Major League in Shield. The idea is that the gyms can be in different leagues each year in the Galar Region!
