INTRODUCTION TO TOM PHAN [ Reverse that and you'll get it. ] Tom is a washed-up music artist known as Mystery Who is mostly known for his electric pop and vocals [Think Mystery Skulls meets The Dare]. Even though he wants to be known for his guitar skills... Oh, and his sunglasses which he never takes off.

One day Tom disappears from the limelight and finds himself stumbling ass backwards into the Rosanna mafia. Lucky for him, the boss has a soft spot for knuckleheads. Now he's a lackey taking orders from the big boss.

Personality-wise.... He's a self-delusional idiot. He truly believes that he's the coolest person in the room at any given time. He can't even process the idea of someone not liking him. He's not entirely seeing the world clearly. [ Think Johnny Bravo/Brett Hand ] *Note that he doesn't put others down because of this. Kind of the opposite, in fact. He cares about his friends very dearly. Tom can see and talk to "ghosts" thanks to his necromancer blood. He can also make them into tangible beings. They don't last very long, but they're cute creatures :]

So it’s 2019. A new year means resolutions and while I know some people don’t like the idea of making resolutions I suppose the reason why we like making them so much is because the new year gives us a chance to reset. To attempt to do the things that we got too busy to make time for the year before.

 For as long as I can remember, my new years resolution (and birthday wish) was to loose weight. But every year, I didn’t stick with it. I got busy, I fell off the wagon, I didn’t make the time to prioritize my physical or mental health. But, it’s a new year and 2019 feels different. It feels better. I feel like I’ve gotten to a place mentally where I love myself and like myself enough to want to do this for me and for no other reason. And while that’s not to say that I’m in a 100% good place. I’m in a place, where I feel like I am able to allow myself to grow and to make progress 

So that’s what this blog is. It’s a place for me to hold myself accountable and to document my journey on being a better version of me (physically and mentally). So expect progress reports. Maybe a rant or two about this or that. So yeah. If this page helps you, I’m glad but even if it doesn’t, I think it’s going to help me. A lot.

An Introduction (Aug. 2, 2016)

I have always loved a  good challenge, which is why I have taken it upon myself to teach myself Mandarin Chinese.  Let's just say that I have "found" 3 levels of mandarin on a popular language learning software. I have already eagerly started and have almost completed the first lesson. But it has become clear to me that this program is boring and I need lots of self-motivation and discipline to keep going. It has also become clear to me that this program is only meant to serve as a supplement. Which would be much more disappointing had I not obtained this software for free.  

I really want to give up on this and perhaps learn something easier like Spanish (which is a language I truly do want to eventually learn), since it is widely spoken in the southwestern corner of the United States (which is where I live).  But none the less I am determined so I have been listening to Chinese top hits and children songs on Spotify. I dream of the day I can put the fact that I speak Chinese on a resume. This brings me to reason I created this blog, I want to share both my academic journey as well as my language learning journey here so that I am able to perhaps inspire others and receive tips and feedback.

I guess I should give ou some background about myself. Well, first of all, my name is Sarah. I am a native English speaker, and I live in southern Nevada (USA). I am 23 years of age, I am engaged to a very wonderful dude, and I attend college full time for a bachelor's degree in business (I am expected to graduate in May 2017).  I like flowers, dogs, and I procrastinate more than I willing to admit.  I've actually been following the studyblr community for a while and I hope to get nestled into it soon.
