Oh how silly

“How is it that from beauty I have derived a type of unloveliness? - from the covenant of peace a simile of sorrow? But as, in ethics, evil is a consequence of good, so, in fact, out of joy is sorrow born. Either the memory of past bliss is the anguish of to-day, or the agonies which are have their origin in the ecstasies which might have been.” - Edgar Allan Poe
In 10 years...
A thought just popped into my head. Next year (hopefully) I will be going off to university to study to become a composer. I will be leaving the nest for the first time, and experience the most freedom, independence and responsibility I have ever had.
The thought, 'where am I going to be in 10 years time?' just slapped me in face like a wet fish. And the truth is, I really don't know. I don't really have plans for such things. I have realized that I am the sort of person who takes things as they come, and will go along with what life throws at me. In 10 years I could be living half way across the world, I could be a famous composer with my own album out, I could be a teacher, or a writer, or a mad homeless woman.
I think that is part of the beauty of life, we are all caught up in this mad, swirling vortex of deadlines, chores, emotions and chaos, it's a wonder that we even manage to get by on a day to day basis sometimes. No matter how much we plan for the future, no matter how many 'safety nets' we
set for ourselves if things don't go the way we expect, we will never know where we will be 10 years from now, not for certain anyway. I quite like that.
