● I don't know who started this, but this is a fun little personal survey I wanted to participate in! If you see this you can do it too if you'd like! You don't need to be a pathandpractice member nor do you need to be tagged (although I will be tagging some people at the end). ●

● If your magick had a theme song, what would it be?

This was actually the hardest one of these to answer. I still don't really know. None of the songs I really adore quite sum it up for me, and none of the more classic witchy songs/artists really do it for me either.

Guess I'll have to keep looking. If anyone knows of any rock/punk artists that have witchy vibes or tunes, please let me know!

● What's the weirdest substitute component you've ever used?

I don't know how weird it is, really, but I use cannabis leaves a lot, including as a substitute for anything related to grounding, protective, etc.

● What's a superstition you don't believe?

I don't really believe in any, but that doesn't stop me chucking salt over my shoulder to blind da de'el!

● What's the most chaotic spell outcome? How off target did it go?

I've never had a spell go off the rails, my worst outcomes have been things just not working. Possibly cos I don't really do anything too adventurous or complex, most of my workings are low key self and home care, which doesn't leave much room for chaotic or off rail results.

● What's something completely mundane that feels magickal to you?

Picking up litter. Transforming my frustration and anger at others into action, into an act of devotion to the land. And, if I'm honest, transforming it into a little self righteous smugness, too. Which is not an attractive trait, perhaps but it's less upsetting than just being angry at selfish, disgusting people, so hey-ho. Maybe one day I'll transform the smugness into something better, too!

● What kind of magick are you bad at?

Anything really complex with a bunch of parts to it, I don't have the oomph or the spoons.

● What's a sign or omen you completely misred at first?

The call to witchcraft in the first place. It took me a fair damn while to realise, or maybe more to accept, that this was my path. I've mentioned before about being raised by pretty judgy sceptic atheists, it took me a long time to unlearn their opinions and even longer to acknowledge my own spiritual and witchy side.

● If your altar could judge you, what would it say you're neglecting?

My queer ancestors space, it's been too long. Pride month coming, though so if there's ever a time to tend it, it's now.

Also, if I'm honest, neglecting myself, too. I'm doing a little better with self care rituals, but some dedicated work would not be a bad thing right now. Literally saw a post about an altar to myself after starting to write this, so taking that as a we prompt from the universe!

● What is one witchcraft hill you will die on?

That anyone can be a witch. Witchcraft can totally be inherited, of course, but ultimately, practising witchcraft is a choice.

● What's a habit you've turned into ritual?

My morning and evening routines, which I've dreamed of doing for years!

● If you could take the shape of an animal for a day, what would you choose?

(Laszlo voice) A baaaat! Seriously, to "see" the world in sound, to fly and swoop so fast and free, to whirl in the sky all night and sleep all day. Bliss, pure bliss.

● If your magic had a moral alignment, what would it be?

Chaotic good. I do slightly more good than not, I think, but definitely chaotically.

● What's a belief you had early in your practice that you laugh at now?

Not exactly laugh at, but I did very much fall into the trap of buying things for my craft and thinking I had to follow what others did. Took me a wee while to find my own path, and to generally become less consumerist in my life and in my craft.

● If you could bottle one type of feeling and use it for spellwork, what would it be?

That elusive and painfully rare feeling of being confident within myself. Sometimes I know I can do anything I set my mind to, if I could bottle that to use any time it would change my life.

● What's your "shouldn't work but does" method?

For me, working intuitively. I have never been able to trust myself, my intuition. I have learned to in my witchcraft. And that is huge for me.

● What's the most aesthetic over practical thing you've done in your practice?

Oooh, a few things! But aesthetics matter to me, and when something I do looks nice as well as being practical that's a lovely bonus that helps me connect to my workings!

● If your practice had a warning label, what would it be?

Caution - the witch is Scottish, autistic, and perimenopausal, prod at your own risk.

● What's the first magickal book you read?

Wild Magic - Tamora Pierce. Daine has wild magic, which lets her work and communicate with animals. In hindsight, it definitely sparked something in Wee Rach all those decades ago now.

Spell jars are one of the greatest ways to be one with nature, and let nature be one with you. The nature of your spell will quite literally envelope your very own to fulfill and unleash this oh very powerful intention of your desire and of your inner-tuition (inner intuition). Spell jars are a simple yet effective form of magic that brings your deepest intentions forth into the world and empowers your inner most divine self. Manifesting is a personal power that we all have within ourselves and can be ignited by this particular practice.

In this post, is a simple way to create a cloaking spell jar that will cloak you from unwanted attention and unwanted energy. By cloaking, any unwanted energy will simply be redirected and shifted away gradually as you are cloaked and discreted. This spell especially helps when you have nosy neighbors that won't leave you alone, when that family member that keeps bugging you about the same thing turns into a pet peeve, or even when a skeptic just being a bummer gives off that negative energy. This cloaking spell can also cloak you from enemies, energy vampires, and anyone who may be feeding off your energy in any way.

Some witchy tips on spell jars:

Please don't forget to set your intentions as you go, and chant if you will; to empower yourself and your spell! I, myself am an advocate for silently chanting throughout the spell's entirety. Let this fill your senses.

visualization also helps empower and energize your spell jar, it also helps to direct your spell jar's energy

as an intuitive witch, I feel like i'm always building and always growing as I go upon this journey. I'd like to think even my intentions may transform yet be so everlasting and sacred through this thing called time so I like to also visualize my intention through the clair-senses, grasp the spell jar in my hand and charge the spell jar by visualizing a light seeping through my hands (the light being the respective intention whether it be within a feeling, within a certain nature, etc.) then trickling into the spell jar and beaming. I also incorporate color magick into this, though that is completely up to you! I think this is also the most immediate form of charging in the intent of like directing/redirecting energy which can be great guidance to your most deepest and inner manifestations. I genuinely believe this can strengthen your spell jars through time too.

cleanse your jar, your spell ingredients, and your space prior to spellwork! I personally suggest keeping selenite in your space, or incense smoke (of your choice)!

Be sure to ground yourself through meditating or practicing with a grounding crystal of your own (I suggest malachite, obsidian, or clear quartz!-black tourmaline works great too.) and fellow babies in witchery, you're going to want to program it with your intention!--or keep a crystal near for focus such as blue apatite, blue moonstone, etc. and don't forget to program it!--orrr light some intention infused candles as a conduit to spell focus or even your psychic power to better empower your spell! I will be leaving this totally up to you.

You will need:

rose - energetic protection, boundary making to cloak from unwanted and negative energies from others

clear quartz - to amplify the spell

white willow bark - physical/mundane protection

witch's hazel - fortification

stinging nettle - psychic protection and boundary setting

vervain - consecration barrier by tying the person/s to a mirror; to then ward off the unwanted energy/unwanted attention

forget me not flowers - transparency and clarity; to blend into your environment

Intuitive Witchcraft

Some things about myself that I always thought were weird, but were just my witch’s intuition:

Needing all doors/drawers/closets/windows closed at bedtime - sense of protection

Plants in every window

Bringing nature/nature symbols into the home (as a kid I had a giant sun painted on my ceiling!)

Fascination with rocks and crystals

Collecting leather journals but never writing in them

Love of candles & intuitively burning them based on color and my mood

Stars (pentagrams) everywhere

A love for lore and the finding myself in books about witches. Pining for that life.

What This Witch Does After a Reading ✨

Thank you to everyone who liked and reblogged my last post about what I do before giving readings for other people. 🖤 I'm glad you liked it, and wanted to know what I do afterwards as well. If you didn't see that post, just go to my blog and search for "prepare for reading."

As I said in that post, doing readings can take a lot of energy, sometimes depending on the subject. I've explained what I do to prepare for a reading, so now let me tell you what I like to do after giving a batch of readings. Some of these things I might do in between readings, but I do everything after a batch. 🖤

My After Reading Routine

1. Ground Myself

Immediately after a batch of readings, I love to do a simple, but effective grounding exercise. A lot of you have probably heard of this method before. Here’s how I do it: 

1st I take a few deep breaths, in through my nose and out through my mouth.

2nd I imagine a root coming out from the bottom of my spine/tail bone. I envision the root going deep into the Earth, all the way to the core, and the root sucking up the energy and filling my entire body. 

3rd I imagine the root coming back up, and visualize all of the energy I just sucked into my body spreading throughout all of my limbs, fingers, and toes. Any excess energy, i just shake out of my hands. 

2. Drink Some Water

Giving readings can make a witch thirsty! I always have some on hand while giving readings, so I can drink some in between them as well.

3. Eat a snack/meal

Giving readings can also make a witch hungry! Haha I'll typically give readings at night because that's when I feel most intune, so afterwards I'll topically have some crackers, pretzels, a banana, apple, etc. Pretty much anything vegan!

4. Smoke Some Cannabis

Typically I'll take a dab of an indica strain like Skywalker OG (that's my favorite). It just helps me relax and typically I'll be going to bed shortly after doing readings, as well, so it will help me sleep. 🖤

5. Use Some Grounding Essential Oils

I love using oils like Frankincense, Bergamot, etc after a reading because they help keep me grounded. Although, Frankincense typically corresponds to heightening meditations funny enough. You can use whatever essential oils you'd like, really. 😊 Just make sure you dilute them when applying to the skin (rule of thumb is 2 drops essential oil to 1 tsp carrier oil)

Well, I hope this gives you some insight into what I do to take care of myself after giving a batch of readings. It's important to 'refill your cup' after helping other people and giving away your energy. ✨ If you don't do that, you could end up feeling really drained after a few days, especially if you're an empath like me.
