McBurney, Royal Canadian Air Foce, who has just returned from summer operations in the north land. The top picture is a shot from the air over Point Lake on the Coppermine river. In the lower part of the picture can be faintly green the last outpost of the northern forests, near the Barren Lands. No trees are to be found anywhere in the district. Left left is the ‘first family’ of Bathurst Inlet. Anyone with social ambitions must first gain an introduction to this family. The man is the chief medicine man of the tribe. Lower right are two Esk*mo women with a baby. The bay was born to parents who did not want it. They were going to abandon it, but the lady who has it in her arms adopted it.
