Growing in a fertile moist but well-drained soil in the partial shade of a deciduous tree this clump of Inula hookeri (Hooker inula, Hooker's fleabane) was spreading well. This plant is popular with pollinators but plant with care as it can be invasive.

Thriving in a deep, fertile, moist but well-drained soil in full sun the herbaceous perennial Inula magnifica (giant inula) can occupy the area of a shrub. This plant can reach up to 2.5m tall with stems topped with clusters of large yellow daisy flowers in summer which are appreciated by pollinators. The strong stems will provide structure into the winter.
