i think it was remus who said james and snerp were rivals and that snerp never missed an opportunity to hex james. so yeah i'm pretty sure you're right.

tbh? it's said that snape 'stuck his nose' in the marauders' business, which is why sirius sends him to the whomping willow in the first place. like, i kinda see both sides acting from what they perceive as self-preservation (james wants to protect remus's secret and also doesn't want it out that they are unregistered animagi. snape thought hogwarts would be the first place he was gonna be accepted at, & james + sirius were his first indication that that wasn't the case

Sirius and James learned Levicorpus from Snape – and if Snape was using Sectumsempra on them I have a hard time believing that was the first time he used a curse on them. You don’t go from zero to sixty.
Thanks 2 u all for validating me tbh. I see a lot of people calling Sirius out and making him out to be a villain and it just ?? IDGI.
Don’t get me wrong, he isn’t a hero here and he doesn’t come out looking good either, but there’s a big jump from “impulsive asshole teenager mocking and fighting the other asshole teenager that hates his best friend + openly embraces the kind of life and people that he’s trying to escape” and “rich impulsive asshole teenager bullying the poor misunderstood loner/abuse victim”
Like, canon makes it clear that Snape likes to start shit---he gets into other people’s business, picks fights, has a sharp tongue that he isn’t afraid to use. Not to mention, uh, all the fucking “dark” shit he was into and all the curses he came up with, like...
There’s room for a lot of nuance in this dynamic and trying to limit it to one of aggressor and victim is... very incorrect.

She walked over to where his helmet was hanging on the wall, bringing it over to him and placing it on top of his head. Franny sighed as she draped her arms around his neck, pressing a kiss on the corner of his lips, reluctant to let go just yet. The last time the boots had made an appearance in their place, she nearly had a heart attack watching him fall from their ceiling. And while she was used to his inventions exploding or going haywire, she didn’t really enjoy the ones that brought him harm. “ Make sure you don’t dent anything Neil, or else we won’t get our deposit back. ”
