Kickstarter update plus an eastern herc grub. He has about 3 months until pupation, he will pupate for a month and then lie dormant for at least a month more. The 3 hercs have a lot longer to go.
Super cool catch! This A. gestroi just shed its front half and is solidifying. The difference between the teneral portion and the pre-shed portion is clear in size and color. Isopods shed one half at a time for safety, and their sheds are eaten quickly by the other colony members for nutrients, so this was a quite lucky find!
