the thing about Elliot Schafer In Other Lands is that he knows he's an asshole and that he can hurt people. he knows. and he gets better at holding that inside of him instead of pushing it out on everyone but it never goes away. but he is loved anyway. he is so loved despite everything and as long as he keeps being who he is he is loved do you get it

So, I read In Other Lands by Sarah Rees Brennan @sarahreesbrennan to my niece and nephew (teens) because it's one of my favorite books ever and I love that little shit Eliot so so so so much.

My niece is a re-reader like me, and she is listening to the audiobook while she's in one of her hands-on classes (I think it's pottery but don't quote me on that).
