S2 to S3 AU where Shannon was pregnant. When she is killed, the baby is rushed to the NICU, and Eddie suddenly has to deal with a devastated Chris, a brand new baby, and his own very mixed feelings about Shannon and their marriage. Meanwhile, Buck is left idle while he tries to recover from the explosion, and needs something to focus on. With Eddie needing all the help he can get, and Buck needing a distraction, they join forces. ***** The 118 waited in the lobby for news, and Eddie walked in a fog until he found them. He barely registered holding Shannon’s clothing and effects in a barely-sealed plastic bag. He doesn’t know what to say or do as the rest of the 118 get to their feet. They expected information, expected something. Eddie had nothing to give them. Bobby walked in the door in his street clothes and Eddie couldn’t even think to question why. He fell into Bobby’s outstretched arms, feeling like a little kid again, needing assurance from his parent. But he wasn't a kid – he was an adult with two children now, he needed to act like it.
