I'm procrastinating so I found myself on IORR reading some concert reviews. This one is from the Las Vegas show in November 2005.

The reviewer says "Many of my friends are sick of Brown Sugar, but for me, and this was my third time in 20 years seeing them, there is a bonding moment between Keith and Charlie during the song, that if Zeus saw them, he would kill them instantly because he'd know that he would never find that kind of passion and love."

I read that was like.....ok. Invoking Zeus and everything. The 3rd time in 20 years part makes me think maybe this is another Boomer Who Gets It.

I don’t know who P. Caufield is, but he is definitely part of the club (there’s also like a 25% chance ‘he’ is Patti fucking around with the general IORR Boomer population for her own amusement).

i haven’t been following the rumours about the stones’ 2025 european tour that closely, but i just saw on IORR that the tour has called off. hopefully it isn’t for health related reasons

I’m not necessarily inclined to believe anything from IORR, both because they tend to be trash at predictions:

And because that site is mostly constituted of bored Boomer men in desperate need of an actual hobby who have convinced themselves they’re music industry insiders.

That said, if what’s floating around is true:

I do hope it’s not health reasons. Keith has a new grandbaby from Theo and another on the way from Alexandra, Mick has a young child (however little attention and time he devotes to raising him and then brags about in the press), and Ronnie has two.

But I think there could be a variety of culprits if such a tour were ever even floated/semi-planned. Health issues, yes, but also inability to get tour insurance (there’s no way they would self fund any part of a tour - Mick’s not willing to lose it all this late in the game), logistical issues with booking venues for the dates they wanted, negative data on likelihood of selling out shows with high ticket prices, or lack of desire on someone’s/multiple people’s parts. For my money, they win by pulling the plug ‘too soon’ rather than too late on live performances, although whether they’ve already reached their sell by date in that regard is up for debate. (We saw them in late May of 2024 and it was a noticeably worse show than October of 2021). I’ll be curious to see whether we ever actually get that new album they’ve been talking about since the release of Hackney Diamonds.
