I went to The 2015 Summit Conference hosted by the Inter-Professional Healthcare Coalition. It was a conference that brought together nursing, medicine, and pharmacy since it's extremely important to build good relationships with the inter-professional team wherever you're working.
The conference as really great. There were 3 speakers, one representing each profession, and they were all really great. The importance of being able to work well with other nurses, physicians, and pharmacists was the main focus of the conference, and it's something that not a lot of people may initially see as being so important. I learned quite a bit from the conference, and participated in the OR simulation workshop. I got the change to partially gown up for the OR, check out some of the common OR tool trays, and even learn a basic suture that I did on a pig leg.
Overall, a really great night. It was hosted at Nemours Children's Hospital, so I got a chance to see parts of the new hospital as well.
It never gets easier; you just get stronger.
