Match Report: USA women play a hard fought game against top ranked Chile but come up short (2-6)

The Lady Salamanders showed determination and grit as they fought to play with Chile in their first game today. Chile is considered one of the top ranked teams in the tournament.  Despite this, the Lady Salamanders held their own, and demonstrated they were able to play against the best.

In the first half, the ladies fought hard, but were not able to connect as a team. However, this all changed in the second half. The ladies did not let the score get them down, as they fought back and scored two goals in the second period.  Defensively, the women held Chile to only two goals in the second half. Goalie Entiera from Charlotte made great saves and Sarah from Sacramento was a huge help on defense. The women have one more day in the preliminary stage. After this, they find out their official rankings and what their final ladder position is.  This will determine what cup they will be playing for in the finals.
