Mexican Morning Glory

Ipomoea tricolor is a species of plant in the family Convolvulaceae, native to the tropics of the Americas, and widely cultivated and naturalized elsewhere. It grows well with full sun, well-draining soil, and about an inch of water per week.

Though both roses and forget-me-nots are more common transgender symbols, they are most often used specifically in the context of transgender remembrance. So I felt it would more appropriate to use a different flower, I chose Morning Glory do to its transitional nature and flowers' colours.

Hero Form Appearance: A stunning combination of a fire and ice themed warrior with YuYuYu’s Hero Form outfits. The base is a gray so that the brighter colors stand out against it, while the main outfit is a bright blue as to represent the blue of the morning glory flower. Meanwhile, across the outfit, gold, silver, red, and white accents balance things out- and Shoto intentionally has one of his shoes and gloves white, and the other red- to not only match his hair, but his powers as well. The blue morning glory’s petal shape can be seen in the tailcoat, gloves, and the anklets. He also has morning glory vine patterns on his gloves and stockings that almost look too realistic.

Did you know the psychoactive ergot alkaloids found in some morning glory species (like in the heavenly blue ipomoea tricolor pictured) aren’t actually in the plant but in fungi that have an ancient symbiotic relationship with morning glories?

Just a couple of tiny snippets of early garden updates. One of my Heavenly Blue Morning Glories, pictured here blooming a little soon (also being photo bombed by the Calandula and what I think is a very blurry Rosemary. Pictured below is the first bloom on the open pollinated French Dwarf Marigolds. A few more have popped open since I snapped this shot, they're looking very gold this year. Exciting!

My morning glories for the year.  I tried planting three in the same rectangular pot, and then tried encouraging them up onto the deck railing.  It worked pretty well, but they did a poor job spreading horizontally.  

So next time perhaps a few small pots spread the length of the rail with individual plants.
