tbh thank you for your post abt "he's in love [beat] with humanity" bc some days i really feel like i am the one and only person living in the berenstain universe except it's the scripts for 9.22 & 9.23, the fact we got that one-two punch and then everyone spent the next 6 years pretending cas wasn't already textually in love with dean sends me through the absolute roof and i want to kick dabb and carver in the shins until they both apologize to me personally

i’ve kind of felt like this ever since “you must have me confused with the other angel, you know, the one in the dirty trench coat who’s in love with you?” because on any normal, sane show that isn’t supernatural, having multiple characters repeatedly state that one of the main characters is in love with one of the other main characters would be taken as an indication that, you know, that main character is in love with that other main character! but unfortunately this is supernatural so not only did people continue to act like cas wasn’t in love with dean after both of those episodes, they’re still acting like it even though cas himself said that he was in love with dean! it truly boggles the mind how much homophobia can warp people’s perceptions of what’s explicitly in the text of the show. i know this is such a tired argument but no one would ever act like this about a straight couple

Last Song I Listened To: Whispering Bells - The Del-Vikings. Man, they’re so good. 

Favorite Musicians: I could really go off here. I love The Beatles, The Who and the Rolling Stones. They Might Be Giants, Oingo Boingo, Cults, Grouplove, Foster the People. I’ve definitely left out one or two hundred important ones. Stop putting me on the spot!

Last Film I Watched: Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping. 

Last TV Show I Watched: Seinfeld. I have to recommend it to the public as an ideal pandemic cooldown watch. It’s a good three decades removed from the current atmosphere. It’s a show about nothing happening in a context where “nothing” continues to include casual handshakes, casual air travel and casually knocking down your friend’s door to pay him a totally unsolicited visit, but at its most essential it’s still about being stuck in close quarters with a bunch of people who are equally frustrated but making you laugh the entire time. 

Favorite OC: Can’t say, they’ll all start fighting. 

Pets: None currently. 

Sweet, Spicy, or Savory: This is absolutely a case-by-case thing, right? In this case: sweet. 

Sparkling Water, Tea, or Coffee: Again, case-by-case. Right now I would like coffee.

it is INSANE. it is literally insane. like i can laugh at things like the bibros fans saying the only reason there's deancas moments is because there were hellers on staff like that somehow means the… deancas moments they're explicitly saying happened… didn't, uh, happen, but the fact that you really do have people out there like "no they're both straight, there's nothing there, you're all delusional" is just. genuinely what universe do you live in. and they're the showrunners/writers.

i’ve been saying this for months but the thing about repeatedly writing scenes into the show which imply that cas and dean are queer and in love is that it doesn’t matter if you only did it to bait fans because you still end up with a show that implies that cas and dean are queer and in love

just saw you watched 9.23 and THIS IS WHAT I AM FUCKING SAYING. THIS IS WHAT I HAVE BEEN SAYING FOR ALMOST SEVEN F U C K I N G YEARS aside from the most of that time i spent pretending i'd never watched spn in the first place but y'know. they literally fucking said "he's in love with humanity oh wait no specifically dean" and then just???? pretended? it wasn't already explicitly textually canon? for six FUCKING YEARS and everyone just. fucking went with it. i hate this fucking show

LITERALLY THEY CAN’T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT (except the show is over and they did, in fact, keep getting away with it). what other show besides supernatural could make it canon over and over that two of their main characters are in love and then pretend like it didn’t happen and have the majority of the audience go along with it????? there are STILL people who don’t think cas is in love with dean even after cas himself said so onscreen!!! homophobia is absolutely insane there is literally nothing that straight people won’t ignore in order to pretend gay people don’t exist

What's a particular emotional story or passage from the Bible that really get to you? One of my favorites is probably Genesis 45, when Joseph reveals his identity to his brothers while weeping, and then he forgives and kisses them all while continuing to weep.

John 21. Jesus has risen from the dead. A group of his apostles have gone fishing all night and caught nothing. In the morning, Jesus appears on the shore, unrecognizable to them, and tells them where to cast their nets. They’re unable to pull their nets in because of the enormous haul of fish. In fact, it’s an almost exact reenactment of the moment when Jesus called them to be his disciples in the first place, which is maybe why the Beloved Disciple (John) shouts “It is the Lord!” Peter, the moment he hears this, leaps into the water fully-clothed and swims right to shore. Jesus has a fire and food waiting for them and they follow up the Last Supper with what you might call the First Breakfast. (It only gets more moving from there with Peter undoing his denial of Jesus via the “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” dialogue.)

What really stands out to me about this story is that the last time Peter saw Jesus, he had just denied Him three times. Peter is not (at this stage) a brave man; he’ll even admit in his dialogue with Jesus that his love for Him is still not what it should be (“agape”). He should be doing what guilty men have done since Adam—hiding himself from God. Instead he leaps into the water and goes straight into the arms of the one he betrayed. This is how we need to approach Jesus at all times. Exactly like that.
