Trans joy Thursday (story time)
This happened today, btw.
So I went to a restaurant with my family (mom and brother).
There was this old couple with a disabled son (appeared to be paralyzed and he was in some sort of wheelchair, but out of respect, I didn't bring it up or ask them). After we ordered our food, I talked to the lady for a bit. I told her that I prefer to go by a boy's name, then told her my preferred name. She didn't mind.
After my family finished eating, since the lady told me her son's name, I got curious and asked the old couple their names. The lady had my exact legal name, spelled the exact same way. I didn't mind. In fact, I was honored and excited. She even had a necklace with her name on it.
The guy (older one) thought that one of the names I said was my middle name, and I politely corrected him. He told me his name. Around that time, we had to leave.
I said goodbye to them, and here's the best part...
THE GUY CALLED ME BY MY PREFERRED NAME!!!
I was so happy! I had the feeling that the old couple was supportive, but I didn't expect that.
The lady said that she would pray for me tonight because I told her that I wasn't feeling well.
I trust that she'll stay true to her word.
