I think it's mostly because the narrative is in WWX's perspective and it goes to show just how close they had been that WWX can't help but call him that all the time, even mentally. Maybe if things were in another point of view, we'd be hearing a lot more "Jiang Wanyin" or "Sect Leader Jiang."

Awesome meta on Arima's actions! I really hope it's as you say. (I also hope that Arima lives b/c he's just an awesome character & I'd be sorry to see him go.) As I read it, I couldn't help but think back to the Aogiri Arc. Yamori, Kaneki's ghoul "father," also forced him to make a terrible choice. When Kaneki couldn't, BOTH Kouto & Kei were killed. Arima is giving Kaneki a lot of time (and a lot of words for someone as stoic as he is) to stand up & choose, b/c Kaneki can't have it both ways.

I feel like with the Yamori “father” thing that’s a much lighter “parental” role than with Arima. Just because it’s something a some people theorize, versus with Arima it’s pretty much spelled out.

But yeah Kaneki is definitely faced with a difficult choice. However where with Yamori it was Bad/Bad choices, with Arima it’s more Horrible/Okay. In the ending where Kaneki gets his death wish he loses everything and his father figure kills his friends.

In the other Kaneki has the discomfort of pushing himself to live and possibly killing/maiming his father figure, but his friends might survive.

With Arima Kaneki is much more pushed to one outcome and really in the end Kaneki has little choice in his mind but to fight and try to win against Arima.

China and America love to compete over games. China tends to slay America when it comes to games like checkers, but he won't play cards against America unless he's got Macau for back-up. ...hmmm, I could possibly do that.... The Casterly Rock vs San Francisco comparison kind of happened because

I live near San Francisco and it's the big city I'm most familiar with, so that would be my go-to comparison

San Francisco is on a peninsula, bounded on water by 3 sides, so there's kinda a hard limit to how big the city can be, which is a similar issue with Casterly Rock. It's just that Casterly Rock is bounded by stone a lot more than water, but the hard limit is still the same.

Casterly Rock being approximately the same width as San Francisco was kind of something I found out by accident (see the first bullet point). I was looking on google maps, calculating distances in San Francisco. When I saw the distance from one side of SF to the other was about 2 leagues, I just sat there stunned for a minute, because I couldn't believe my eyes. 

Was there any city in particular you had in mind for the comparison?
