It's a wonderful day for podcasts #atheist #exmormon #friendlyatheist #infantsonthrones #irreligiosophy #podcast
Guys, this is an interview with Shirley Phelps-Roper, daughter of Fred Phelps, brother of visionary Nate Phelps, and spokeswoman of the Westboro Baptist Church. Irreligiosophy brought her on after interviewing Nate, and according to them, they regret it. Phelps-Roper here exhibits the same trait that her father has; that of talking over the interviewer to get her own misguided opinions out. This interview offers an interesting look into the WBC and to the Phelps family. I urge you to listen to this. And I challenge you to not laugh and/or feel the urge to punch her in the face.
This is a great episode of one of my favourite atheist podcasts of all time. I'm listening to it right now. Chuck and Leighton go over the evidence for a historical Jesus, which is quite sparse. Unfortunately, this wonderful podcast, Irreligiosophy, has now been discontinued, due to the oft-ignored but should be heeded phrase: DO NOT MIX BUSINESS WITH PLEASURE. i.e. Don't open a business with close family or friends. Please enjoy the podcast. :) AATS
Despite the occasional misogynistic joke... I love these guys.
An interesting question
voxmedia-tion replied to your post: Just to let you know...
My question; Atheism is easy to defend, but have you in your experience met an argument in favor of religion that you could not defeat? what is that argument?
I have heard an argument on described on a atheist podcast (Irreligiosophy) that before I heard the dissection could not see how to argue against it but once the podcasters started to attack it I saw how to pull it apart. Unfortunately I cant remember what the argument was, I think it was a cosmological argument but I don't think it was well known version. At most I think it would only have been able to prove a deistic god, so the Christian apologist they were quoting would have still had a long way to go to get to the God of the bible.
Sorry that probably wasn't that helpful.
Hi everyone! Remember that audio clip I posted from the podcast Irreligiosophy? If not, go here: http://analyzedatheist.tumblr.com/post/2617090200/for-those-of-you-who-do-not-want-to-listen-if . As you can tell from that clip, it's a fantastic podcast. After posting that clip, I dropped them an email letting them know that I did so and didn't ask permission! On the next podcast, as you can hear in the clip above, they mentioned me and my blog, swore on me and made fun of me (awesome--they do this to everyone!!). I wanted to share this with you, my followers. I hope this generates some more traffic on my blog and eventually some more followers.

Enjoy!
For those of you who do not want to listen:
"If God is as he is portrayed in the scriptures, both the book of Mormon, the Old Testament, and the New Testament, then God is an asshole, and he deserves all of the mockery and scorn that I can heap upon him. And if I am dragged before his bar, my first question would be:
'What right do you have to judge me? You are the most immoral, sonofabitch, genocidal bastard that has ever existed in this universe. Hitler was a pipsqueak compared to you. You have no right to judge me. You've committed far greater crimes than I ever will and I am ever capable of. You killed small children. My God, you committed adultery to even have Jesus--with another man's betrothed! Don't tell me not to fornicate before marriage, you did!'
This sort of thing is the stuff that we've [Atheists] been told to sit down and shut up about. 'Stop having these conversations, because you're not being respectful, you've gotta be respectful!'
I'm done! Done being respectful, I've gone down that road, I'm not going to do it anymore. Now hopefully people will stand up and take notice. We Atheists are not going away. We're not going to respect your beliefs. We're not going to respect you. You listen to us now."
This is an excerpt from the Podcast, "Irreligiosophy," and I urge all of you to listen to Chuck and Leighton, ex-Mormons and Atheists, as they professionally yet informally tear religion apart at its seams. They're not perfect, but they acknowledge as much, seeing their shortcomings as opportunities for humor and of course, improvement. They are fearless and will mock anything and everything that deserves it (and sometimes doesn't deserve it, but that's funny too!).
