Maldives was great, Thailand looking good!
Hello from our second stop in Thailand, Pattaya!
A quick update on how everything went in the Maldives - it was amazing. A bit of a dodgy start as we landed on the capital island of Male to find it very hot and humid, but cloudy and dull... potential disaster!
Straight after the flight from Dubai, we were taken round the corner to hop on a sea plane to take us on the 45 minute journey to our island of Iru Fushi where the weather was much better. We were met off the plane by one of the Maldivian staff, taken for an introduction drink, then taken to our water villa to settle in.
The island was as close to what you'd imagine as a tropical paradise as you can get. The beaches are bright white and like talcum powder, the water of the lagoon is crystal clear with fish to see as soon as you stick your head under the water, an amazing house reef and loads of palm trees further in the island. Again, very hot and humid!
The water villa was brilliant with a deck outside going straight into the lagoon, a bath over looking the water, a shower with doors that opened up to make it almost outdoor and a big glass window in the floor to look down into the water under the stilts with Geordie clownfish!
The only thing to do on the island is relax, sunbathe, go snorkelling, try some water sports, go to the spa, eat and drink. We did all of that with Scott learning to windsurf and Megan having a 90 minute massage, returning with flowers in her plaited hair, aww! There's about 6 or 7 different places to have food and drink so we just worked our way round and assessed the cocktail menu!
Amazing place. Beautiful island. As close to paradise as you can get! It's not exactly travelling if you stop by the Maldives but it was definitely worth it.
All of the pics are here for you to look at.
We're now in Thailand and have just left Bangkok where we seen a lot of Buddah's, went to the floating market and also the Tiger Temple where we fed baby tigers with bottled milk! Very cute photos appearing on a Facebook near you soon...
