irving severanceposting… one of my favourite revelations of this season is how deeply aware outside irving is of a level of communication/exchange between him and innie irving. he keeps referring to it, more and less obscurely, i.e. “my innie got the message/they caught on to what my innie was doing” - and coupled with the rigorous painting regimen, the subliminal messages irt the testing floor corridor, the sleep deprivation inducing irving to sleep at lumon and hallucinate black paint and, crucially, the fact that his mind conjured that symbolic dream-vision for himself in the forest which translated/revealed the helena situation to himself … all of this is making me think that it’s not merely that outie irving is the most similar/in line with his innie personality-wise (which is perhaps why innie irving got radicalised so fast), but that he has actually realised that some level of semi-organic, fragmented reintegration on a subconscious level is possible, and achieved it. and he is so compelling because not only is he clearly very focused and in tune with his own thought process/awareness, but he is also such a keen listener and cautious agent. not only does he he never tell anything to authority figures like milchick when questioned, he also does not reveal a single thing about himself the whole dinner with burt and fields, but only asks questions and observes, very attentively. and all the while, he remains almost invariably kind, even in really dire and unpleasant environments. i think he is such a fascinating and loveable character. cannot wait to learn more
