I used to work in a Japanese dormitory at a college. And I am a wide and squishy person. Unknown them I can understand Japanese to a fair degree. Some of girls would call me "Kaba-chan" or Hippo. So for study hour one day I drew a hippo on the white board, put an X through it and wrote "My name is **** not Kaba, please get it correct" in my fumbling Japanese. And some faces dawned in horror to this revelation, that I indeed can understand their shit talk.

Holy fuck I'm sorry to hear that. ☹️ Whether or not you COULD understand them, that kind of name calling is definitely NOT okay. How rude!
