btw. speaking of my favorite failmarriage. here’s a take that should not be hot:
chase is the one who broke them up.
i don’t mean that in the “he did a murder :(“ sense. i don’t even mean he was wrong to do it. but he took the action. he made the choice.
cameron spends most of teamwork trying to make things work. she wants to fix their marriage, she wants to help chase. she wants to get out of town. this is absolutely a bandaid. house is probably correct when he says she is shifting the blame onto him, that she isn’t really okay with what chase did. but she’s trying. she wants to make things work.
at first, so does chase. but then house gets to him on his recruitment drive (and it’s interesting that house only makes a cursory effort with cameron: he doesn’t really try to convince her, he knows she is gone and she is only focused on chase), and chase starts to doubt. he is probably correct to doubt. cameron is trying to run and paper over their problems.
and you know what chase does in response? he takes a job with house. and only after he already said yes does he tell cameron. he goes behind her back. until this moment, he had been going along with her plan; he had wanted the marriage to work. he tells her (dares her) to accept a job too. he tells her if she doesn’t, then she doesn’t forgive him and the marriage is over. he gives her the ultimatum. he goes behind her back. and in lockdown, he retcons the entire thing to be her fault, says she never loved him.
i understand why chase would worry about this, and even believe it. he’s wrong, but it makes sense from his pov. but he completely erases his own choices. he killed dibala. he went behind cameron’s back. he ended the marriage.
