Well I always love talking about Claude and the Deer so

Crest-bearers tend to have a soft spot for sweets. While Lysithea's sweet tooth is absolutely notorious, the other members of the Golden Deer House with Crests to their name (Claude, Hilda, Marianne, and even Lorenz) are by no means exempt. After finding out about Lysithea's shortened lifespan, Lorenz goes out of his way to seek out healthier sweets, and makes sure to taste test them personally before passing them on to her; if they taste too weird for her, she has no trouble splitting them with the others...but the ones that actually taste good she has to guard or risk losing a few to Claude and Hilda -- though it's always worst when they wander by separately because they somehow always get her to part with three apiece (because they always get enough for their friends; Marianne is always surprised when she gets two out of nowhere because Claude and Hilda both snuck an extra for her sake).

Lysithea's fear of ghosts might not be as well-known as her love of sweets, but it's still something Claude knows very well about her. This fact is the one and only thing that saved his eyebrows when he went looking for her in the library one night when she stayed too late, because she freaked out at the shadow calling her name in the doorway and threw a fireball at it. (He spent a solid minute on the ground laughing afterward, partly because it was hilarious and partly because it was utterly terrifying and he is never making the mistake of looking for her without a lamp again.)

Leonie has made it her personal mission at the Academy to beat Claude in an archery tourney. It is not going well. She has no idea how he's doing this because she almost never sees him at the training grounds, and she's there frequently to work on her weapon skills, but she swears she's going to do it one of these days. (Claude's trick is that he usually goes early in the morning after meditation and breakfast, since it gives him a good warm-up before the day gets started.)

Claude is absolutely fascinated by Ignatz and his artistry. His own artistic skill is all musical in nature, but watching Ignatz work is fascinating to him, and when he happens across his fellow Deer working on a piece Claude invariably stops to watch for a bit, trying not to disturb his work in progress. Someday he hopes he might be able to get a piece to keep (and he would be more than happy to commission it), but until then he's happy to just appreciate the artist at work from a distance.

One of the very few things Claude brought with him from Almyra was his oud, and while it logically would have made sense for him to leave it in Derdriu when he came to the Officer's Academy, he went to the trouble of bringing it along with him. He usually goes up onto the roof of the dormitory to practice in private, in part because he knows that even if Lorenz objects, the Gloucester heir isn't going to get up on the roof to stop him, and unless he does Claude sees no reason to quit before he's ready.

yes there are five billion things wrong with harry potter BUT I would just like to say that I truly admire she who must not be named for what she did with sirius’s character in book five...turning a spirited, deeply concerned (almost guardian angel-like?) father figure into someone who pulls away from goodbyes, becomes bitter, and ultimately doesn’t treat Harry like his godson is a painful thing to do to a beloved character. but it’s true to how he would behave, trapped as a fugitive in the house he ran away from, surrounded by dark magic and taunted by his own uselessness. it’s the effect of 12 lost years in prison catching up with him...like we get this glowing look at the man sirius is at heart, the man he could have been for Harry in books 3 and 4. he’s on the run, he’s starving, but he’s free. he acts like an adult, he’s the voice of reason and wisdom. just as harry is grasping at young adulthood (and angry, sullen, and moody to match) Sirius regresses into something of a child...the parallels....even the commentary Hermione makes on him seeing Harry more as a best friend--as James--than as a child to be loved yet protected....someone so distinct from the ghosts of his past, the loss he never properly grieved....ladies......SOMETHING was done right that’s all I’m saying...advanced
